Are you serious? That's what I thought when I first heard the idea of having a neighborhood block party - IN THE WINTER!!! Don't get my wrong, the snow can look all nice and pretty...from the inside of my house though! However, after giving it some thought, I think this could be a lot of fun! Plus, it's a good way to break up the gray long days of winter!
This idea came from Better Homes and Gardens, when having a neighborhood winter block party try these ideas:
- Have a Chili cook-off
- Paint with watercolors in the snow
- Set up a hot cocoa stand
- Have a snowman or snow house building contest
- Make snow angels and then paint outfits on them
- Using the watercolor paint, paint a "lake" and play tug-of-war
- Warm up with a sleeping bag race
Remember, to always keep it simple. It's so easy to let things get out of hand and the next thing you know a simple get together that was supposed to cost no more than $25 now has turned into the whole school and you're spending $200! Simple, does not mean boring, be smart, plan smarter, not harder!
